Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data the MedUZa app ("Meduza — Yangi Mualliflar") collects, how it is used, and what control you have over it. MedUZa is a reading app with e-books, audiobooks, quizzes about books and a community of readers, with a focus on new Uzbek authors. The policy covers the Android app on Google Play and the iOS version that is being prepared for the App Store. It takes effect on 30 September 2026.

Who is responsible for your data

MedUZa is developed and run by an individual developer, not a company:

We process personal data in line with the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. ZRU-547 "On Personal Data" of 2 July 2019.

Guests and accounts

You can browse the catalogue as a guest, without an account. To read, listen or buy, you need an account. You sign in with your Google account or, on iOS, with Sign in with Apple.

What data we store

Account

  • Your email address, display name and profile photo. The photo comes from Google or Apple, or you upload your own.
  • Identifiers from the service you sign in with (Google or Apple).

If you use Sign in with Apple and choose "Hide My Email", we receive an Apple relay address (ending in @privaterelay.appleid.com) instead of your real email.

Profile

  • Your pearls balance and its history.
  • Your Premium status and its expiry date.
  • The books and audiobooks you have bought.
  • Your monthly reading goal and the avatar you chose.

Reading and listening

  • Your reading progress in each book and your reading statistics.
  • The point where you stopped in each audiobook.
  • The items in your cart.

Community

  • The people you follow and the people who follow you.
  • Activity feed entries, for example when you start or finish a book or write a review.
  • Your book reviews and ratings.
  • Your quiz results and leaderboard entries.

Purchases

  • A record of each in-app purchase: the store transaction ID, the product and the date. We use these records to credit pearls or Premium exactly once for each purchase.

We never receive your payment card details. Payments are processed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play).

Data that stays on your device

Some settings are kept only on your phone and are never sent to us: your theme (light, sepia or dark), your reader settings and your reading-streak days.

How we use your data

We use your data only to run the app for you:

  • to sign you in and keep your account;
  • to keep your purchases, pearls and Premium status;
  • to sync your reading progress, statistics and audiobook position;
  • to run the community, quizzes and leaderboards;
  • to credit each purchase exactly once.

The app has no advertising SDKs and no third-party analytics. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with third parties for marketing.

What other users can see

MedUZa has a community of readers. Other users of the app can see your display name, avatar, activity, reviews and your position on leaderboards. Keep this in mind when you choose a name and a photo, and when you write reviews.

Service providers

A small number of providers help us run the app:

  • Google LLC — Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage), Google Sign-In and Google Play Billing.
  • Apple — Sign in with Apple and App Store payments.

Apple and Google keep their own records of your purchases under their own policies.

Storage and security

Your data is stored in Google Firebase, on Google Cloud servers. It travels between the app and the servers over an encrypted connection (HTTPS/TLS).

We keep your data while your account exists. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete it within 30 days. We keep only the records the law requires us to keep, such as payment transaction records for tax and accounting, and only for as long as the law requires.

Your rights

Under the law of Uzbekistan, you have the right to:

  • know what data we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct it;
  • ask us to delete it;
  • withdraw your consent to its processing.

To use any of these rights, email us at execode12@gmail.com from the address linked to your account. If you use "Hide My Email", write from any address and include the relay address shown in your profile in the app, or message us on Telegram. We may ask you to confirm that the account is yours.

You don't have to delete everything: you can ask us to remove only some data, such as your reviews or your photo. To delete your whole account, follow the steps on the Delete Your Account page. If you signed in with Apple, you can also stop using Sign in with Apple for MedUZa in your iPhone settings.

Children

MedUZa is not directed at children under 13. If we learn that a child under 13 has given us personal data without a parent's consent, we will delete that data. If you are a parent and think this has happened, please contact us.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we publish the new version on this page with a new "updated" date.
